When peeling off the cover tape during surface mount assembly, components may adhere to or stick to the tape. First, determine whether it’s a sticking or suction issue. Adhesive components are generally fixed to the cover tape and peel off after applying external force; suction issues are mostly caused by static electricity, where the component is not fixed in one position and is not easily detached with external force, often shifting or changing direction.

Causes of Adhesive Components: ① The adhesive layer is not fully dried and cured, resulting in high stickiness; ② The chemical materials on the component surface are sticky; ③ The pocket cup depth of the carrier tape is not standard, causing the component surface to contact the cover tape; ④ The tape is wound too tightly after braiding, causing compression between the upper and lower layers. This problem is more common during the baking process.

Post-treatment for Sticky Components: ① Replace with a top tape with an anti-stick coating or a non-standard shaped material; ② Check if the carrier tape dimensions are compliant.

Causes of Suction Issues: The cover tape is not treated with anti-static agents or the anti-static treatment is ineffective.

Post-treatment for Suction Issues: Replace with an anti-static cover tape.
